In Yerevan recently completed “Aram Khachaturian International Competition”. It is getting one of the most ambitious and significant musical events. This year in honor of the birthday of Aram Khachaturian started Violin and Cello Competition, becoming a festival of music and the best monument to the great composer. Its organizers were the Ministry of Culture, Cultural Foundation "Aram Khachaturian-Competition" and Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory. This year the art contest was held under the high patronage of the First Lady of RA Rita Sargsyan. The sponsors of the competition were Lucy Ishkhanian and Hakob Tankian. The current contest has gained greater scope and significance largely due to the new Board of Trustees, headed by the composer, executive director of the International Fund of Humanitarian Cooperation of countries - participants of CIS Armen Smbatyan.
The current competition has become a true showcase of the prospects of international musical performance. In general, as noticed many members of the jury, professional and technical level of the young musicians is growing, although Khachaturian competition poses participants daunting task. At this time to Yerevan came fully prepared young people, really ready to fight, not just admire the beauty of the Armenian landscape. We've never had so many foreign participants.
As showed all the stages of the contest, its participants were in fact ensured impartial, qualified and friendly judging by the best musicians of our time. The highest rate of the current jury determined in general the appropriate standard of the competition, which was significantly higher than all other creative competitions held in Yerevan. “The Premium Prospect” looked quite fair and reflected the real balance of the forces prevailing this year.
The Finalists were perfectly accompanied by The Youth Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Sergey Smbatian. He was a worthy partner for the talented soloists. The musicians were playing not formally, but heartily, with genuine enthusiasm. They managed to prepare for the performance quite enthusiastically and responsibly. They are under force of any accompaniment.
